VPN detected by the website

This article explains why some websites block VPN and how to bypass this restriction to unlock internet freedom

Websites are intentionally blocking VPNs

Sometimes, when connected to a VPN node you might see a page that keeps loading forever, giving errors like “Access denied,” “VPN detected,” or your browser saying “Can’t reach this site” with a 403 error.

This happens because some websites intentionally block VPN IPs to prevent spam, bots, or people from breaking website rules.

What to do if you are blocked from the website?

First, test access without the VPN

Disconnect from MysteriumVPN and try entering the site. If it works, the site could be blocking VPNs or a specific VPN IP range/subnet.

Check for IP / DNS leaks:

Go to a DNS leak website and test your connection.

You should see:

  • Location matches your selected region

  • No sign of your real ISP name and IP

  • No DNS leak

💡 Note: If you notice that the problem is caused by a DNS leak, please follow the suggestions in this article:

Other suggestions

Switch to Residential nodes:

In the app, choose Residential instead of High-Speed (which are data center IPs). These come from real home connections and are rarely blocked.

Refresh your IP

Tap Refresh IP to get a new node. Some residential IPs could be flagged — a fresh one usually works.

Clear browser cache

Old data can cause loading issues. Clear it and try again.

Try another browser

Some browsers work better with certain sites.

Turn off Malware & NSFW Blocker

Go to app settings and disable it — it might be blocking the site by mistake.
