How to toggle Malware and NSFW Blocker?

This article explains what Malware and NSFW Blocker are and how to toggle these settings in MysteriumVPN apps

Updated today

What are the Malware and NSFW Blocker features?

Malware Blocker and NSFW Blocker are built-in DNS filters that keep you safe while browsing. They work by adding secure DNS servers to every VPN node you connect to. These servers block access to known malicious websites, phishing scams, unwanted pop-ups, or NSFW—graphic and adult sites.

💡 Note: Sometimes, these DNS features might block a website that is prone to hacks or historically has been breached; however, in that case, you can toggle them off and continue to access those websites at your own risk.

How to toggle them in the app?

In the MysteriumVPN app, tap the gear icon (⚙️) in the top right corner. This will open the Settings menu.

On the right side of the screen, you’ll see two options:

  • Malware Blocker

  • NSFW Content and Malware Blocker

Simply slide the switches to turn them on or off and then reconnect to the VPN for changes to take effect.

💡 Note: If NSFW Content is turned on, the Malware Blocker will be automatically enabled and grayed out — you won’t be able to turn it off. This was made by design—You can use Malware Blocker alone, but not the other way around.
